Shawn was a member of Coquitlam's 1999 All-Star team that won a National Championship at Blue Mountain Park, and represented Canada at the Junior League World Series.
He then moved on to play with the Coquitlam Reds organization and was drafted in the 12th round (357th overall) by the New York Mets in the 2002 MLB draft. He played for both the Kingsport Mets (Rookie League) and the Brooklyn Cyclones (A-short season) in 2003. In 2004 Shawn played for the Capital City Bombers in South Carolina (A-long season) batting .258 with 9 HR and 69 RBIs in 116 games played. 2005-2008 Shawn suffered through back problems, however he returned with a vengeance in '08 and was promoted to the AA Binghamton Mets batting .294 with 24 doubles 9 HR and 44 RBIs in 91 games. In 2009 Shawn broke the 40-man roster with the NY Mets and played in 12 spring games going 3 for 10. He was then designated for assignment back with the AA Binghamton Mets.
April 14, 2010 - BREAKING NEWS - Bowman has been claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays and designated for assignment with the AAA Las Vegas 51's! With David Wright locked up long-term at 3B in NY, there was little chance of Bowman making it with the big club.
