2010 Jr Giants

John Dott has stepped in as Manager for the Junior Giants for the 2010 season, and has included Lindsay Foulds and Kevin Moore in his coaching staff. As a new Manager at Blue Mountain, John is excited to make an impact at the Junior level and is looking for support from his Head Coach. Lindsay Foulds has been in CLL circles for many years, as his sons have grown up through our system. He is hoping that the coaching experience he gained throught that time will make his Junior Giants successful this season. Coach Kevin Moore is also new to Blue Mountain and he is excited to help out whenever he can to make these boys winners.

Last night at Blue Mtn the Giants defeated the Junior Cardinals 12-9. The Giants broke out early putting a quick 9 runs on the board in the first 2 innings, chasing Cards starting pitcher before the 3rd out of the game was made. However, the G-Men saw their lead diminish slowly over the next 4 innings as the Cards tied the game 9-9 in the 5th. The Giants took their last bats in the top of the 6th, and took advantage of Cardinals' errors to plate 3 runs. That is all they would need as Cam Williams closed it out in the bottom half of the inning on 8 pitches. The Giants now look ahead to Tuesday when they take on the Junior Jays.

Last night the Giants were dealt their first loss of the regular season, falling 12-7 to the powerhouse Yankees. On a positive note the Giants managed to score 7 against the Yanks, something no other team has managed so far in the season. High pitch counts and a few defensive error cost the Giants the game tonight, as they are still trying to find their groove. The Giants have the night off tonight, and are back at the park Thursday to square off against division rivals, the Junior Cardinals. First pitch 6:07pm.

The Giants opened their regular season with a barn burner win over the Junior Blue Jays. Javeed Khankashi was given the start for the G-men and pitched a scoreless 3 innings on a meagre 35 pitches. The Giants were slow in the offensive department however, and struggled to consistantly score after reaching base. They did however, manage to turn it on late in the 5th. Capped off by an inside the park home run by Michael Hale, the Giants scored 3 in the 7th to mark their first victory of the season 7-6. Manager John Dott talked about minor base running errors after the game, and was quoted saying, "we have to work on our lead-offs, and maybe we were a little too aggressive today since many of the guys didn't remember our signs". Overall it was an exciting victory for the Giants, who are looking forward to their meeting with the Yankees next Tuesday.

Unfortunately the skies opened up on Wednesday night, and the Giants' first game of the 2010 season had to be postponed. Blue Mountain's infield was flooded, as water pooled on the basepaths. The game will be rescheduled as soon as possible, however the Giants have already put it behind them. Gearing up for their battle tomorrow night against the Blue Jays, the Giants held BP in the cage and are excited to start the season.
