May 5 - The Yankees fell behind early last night, 8-2 after 3 innings, however they battled back losing by a mere 10-9 margin to the Giants. This was their 3rd loss in a row, 4th of the season as they dropped out of top spot in the standings. Their 5-4 record is now 3rd best as they have been overtaken by both the Blue Jays and the Giants. The Yankees look ahead to their game Tuesday night against the Jays to stop their skid and get back to their winning ways. First pitch Tuesday is at 6:00pm.
April 30 - On a wet Friday night, the Yankees lost for the second straight game as the Cards took advantage of ugly conditions and tops the Bombers 11-4. Manager Wes Taylor didn't seem concerned about the Yanks recent woes and was quoted in saying, "its a long season. We are going to lose a game here and there. Tonight wasn't the greatest game, and we weren't playing in the greatest conditions. But its just 1 of many so we'll be alright." The next outting for the Yankees is Tuesday, May 4th. First pitch at 6:05pm.
April 28 - The Yankees fell short tonight as they were handed their second loss at the hands of the Blue Jays. Being outscored 11-5 the Yankees record drops to 5-2, but they remain in the top spot in the standings. The Yankees now look ahead to Friday night when they take on the Cardinals.
April 23 - Back to their winning ways the Yankees topped the G-men 8-7 last night in a game they thought they had in the bag. Cruzing with an 7-2 lead in the 5th inning, the Yankees saw their defence fall to the bats of the Giants as they tied it up in the 6th. The Bronx Bombers plated a single in the 7th and falling back on his World Series experience, Curtis Taylor shut out the Giants in the bottom half to pick up the save. Hitting the practice diamond on Monday, the Yanks are preparing to avenge their loss to the Blue Jays last week in the rematch scheduled for Wednesday night.
April 21 - The Yankees were surprised by a winless Cardinals squad tonight as they narrowly walked away with a 5-4 victory. The bounce-back win was what the doctor called for as the Yanks feel they are back on track to add to their league leading 4-1 record. Game 2 of a back-to-back this week is set for tomorrow night against a offencive minded Giants squad. First pitch is at 6:00pm.
April 18 -
The Jays handed the Yankees their first loss of the season Friday night, ending a 3 game win streak to start the season. The 15-8 slug-fest featured doubles by Curtis Taylor and Brandon Volpe, and Yannick Hale added 2 to his team leading 8 stolen bases. The Yankees have had no problems scoring runs so far this season, but tonight a few mistakes in the field cost them the game. The boys are going to take the weekend off to regroup and bring their "A game" to the park on Wednesday when they face the basement dwelling Cardinals.
April 14 -
The ballpark is the only place in the world where stealing is encouraged, and last night the Yankees were criminals. Combining for more than 10 stolen bases on the night, the Yanks were led by speedster Curtis Taylor who swiped 2 bags in the first frame! Overall the Yankees ran up pitch counts, and forced defensive errors leading to a 12-7 victory. The bombers have moulded into a powerhouse early in the season outscoring the opposition 27-9 and look to continue their run Friday night against the Jays. First pitch is at 6:00pm. April 9 - It was a cold night for baseball Friday night, but the Yankees came prepared for battle, and ended up with a big victory over the Cardinals. Brandon Becking was given the start, and got himself in and out of trouble, maxing his pitch count at 35. The Yankees held the Cards from scoring on multiple occasions, but had their own troubles at the plate. All was righted in the 4th as Curtis Taylor mashed a 2 run double to deep left, and the Yankees never looked back. They were able to tack on 7 more runs in the final 3 innings, and defeated the Cardinals 9-1. Yankees' coach Larry Park spoke to reporters after the game and stressed the importants of aggressiveness at the plate. "We took too many called 3rd strikes, but its early in the season and we are going to work on that." Next up for the Yankees, the Giants next Tuesday, first pitch at 6:05pm. April 7 - The Yankees were victorious in their first game of 2010 last night. Taking advantage of quality swings and speed on the basepaths, the Yankees were able to down the Jays 6-1. The first game of the Junior Season featured great talent on both sides, and Manager Wes Taylor gave the starting nod to Curtis Taylor. Batting through the order proved successful as the Yankees gave their pitching staff the support they needed for the win. Congrats on the first of many.
