The 2011 version of the Coquitlam Junior A's has some big shoes to fill. Coquitlam has dominated the post-season since 2008 with 2 Provincial Titles and 3 Canadian Championships, and the expectations on this year's crew has not changed. Stepping up to the plate this year is a group of 14 young men with one thing in mind... repeat. Leading this youthful mix of players is a coaching staff that includes Manager Tyler Olinyk, and Coaches Shayn Solberg and Kyle Davy. Olinyk brings some experience to the table, as he was on the coaching staff for the '09 and '10 Junior National champs. This years coaching staff is taking a different look at winning games. Confident in their abilities, the A's are taking an old school look to the park. In the past the A's have been able to lean heavily on a powerful hitting lineup, but this year's youthful group will rely on their average, speed and ability to manufacture runs. The A's have an even seven-and-seven split of 13 and 14 year olds that are all looking to make an impact and become a part of Little League history. Leading the charge is veteran Cameron Williams who was on the 2010 roster that clinched a National Title in Lethbridge, Alberta last season. Poised with experience and an off-season growth spurt, Williams has become a force in 2011 and is looking to share his post-season knowledge with his team mates. In Coquitlam we are hoping for another long post-season for all of our age groups, but the Junior A's in particular are hoping lightning strikes 4 times. Its a long journey to greatness, so the A's have broke it down into small attainable goals. First up is a victory in game one of the 2011 Provincials. This year they will be held in Langley where teams from Whalley, North Vancouver, Langley/North Langley and of course COQUITLAM will square off for supremacy. It will not be a cake-walk for any team, so come out and cheer on your A's as they do battle in hopes of another Provincial Title! The players, parents and coaches would like to acknowledge some extraordinary people that have made time and/or financial donations to the team: People like these provide an opportunity for our players to have the best experience possible. From all of us on the A's, we thank-you.
