Coquitlam Little League was founded in 1955. Since then, CLL has offered competitive and community baseball for children and youth in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby, and Maple Ridge.
Coquitlam has a long tradition of success and player development while staying true to Little League roots. One of the only programs that offer regular season opportunities for 4-16 year olds and postseason (all-star) opportunities for 8-16 year olds, Coquitlam regularly graduates players to College, University, and other competitive leagues.
After research, evaluation and consultation, the Coquitlam Little League Board of Directors is proud to share a set of guiding principles that will help guide the decision-making process:
Coquitlam Little League is known across Canada for the quality program offered to all players and the community that supports them. The League supports all players from their first day of Blastball to their last day of Big League by listening to families and offering opportunities other organizations cannot.
Coquitlam Little League is one of the few organizations that has a batting cage. In fact, we have two, including an indoor batting cage that is used for off-season and rainy day opportunities. CLL believes in providing players with the best uniforms and equipment on the market; regularly upgrading uniforms and equipment so all players are treated to the best resources available. Blue Mountain Park and Mackin Yard are considered to be two of the best baseball diamonds in Metro Vancouver. Our dedication to continuous improvement and passion to provide all players with the best experience possible make CLL an organization that many others look to.
Coquitlam Little League extends our reach to families beyond the game between the lines. Our League has a rich history of having a strong community presence. As a cornerstone in the Tri-Cities area, we are known for hosting some of the best tournaments across Canada and engaging the community by supporting our community partners and hosting events like parent pub nights and family outdoor movie nights. Many coaches in our 13+ divisions are former players who volunteer to give back to the baseball community.
Coquitlam Little League is the only League where players from Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and Maple Ridge can earn the chance to play in a World Series. Little League baseball offers World Series opportunities at the 12U, 13U, 14U, and 16U levels. Coquitlam has had many players play at the National and World Series levels; making friendships and memories that last a life time.
As one of the only baseball leagues to have their own indoor batting cage, year-round development opportunities are offered at a low cost to families. CLL is dedicated to providing coaches and players clinics, resources, and training within by bringing in special instructors with college and professional experience.
We know families are busy and do what we can to make the baseball season fun and barrier-free. Players in the Mini-Minor division are able to choose what days of the week they would like to play (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu) and all of their games are played at the same park. The Blastball division plays at Mackin Park on Wednesdays and the Mini-Minor division plays at Hartley Field. Both the Blastball and Mini-Minor Divisions are facilitated by a paid instructor with extensive knowledge of baseball and developmentally appropriate activities.
As kids get older, they get to play with their friends who are the same age and skill level. Most of the games are played out of Mackin Park. With multiple fields, Mackin Park is the perfect location for families with multiple children who are playing at the same time and all 'home' games are played out of this park. Players 8 and older (and some 7's if there's room) also get postseason opportunities. Postseason is optional for players who want to try out to play competitive baseball against players from around the Lower Mainland. Postseason for 9/10 year olds includes a District Championship tournament with the winner advancing to the Provincial Championship tournament. The 11/12 year old postseason team plays in their own District Championship tournament with the winner advancing to the Provincial Championship tournament. The winner of the Provincial Championship represents British Columbia at the Canadian Championship tournament where the winner goes to the famous World Series that we see on TV each summer.
13-16 Year Olds play predominantly out of the beautiful Blue Mountain Park with postseason opportunities at all levels. Away games are mainly within the Lower Mainland, with some teams going to the Island. The Intermediate, Junior, and Senior divisions also have a Provincial, Canadian and World Series tournament which gives players the chance to play at a high profile level.
